We are pleased to announce The Hub’s first official Abstract Anthology, which will be published online on

Friday, July 11th, 2008.

Theme: THE SHACK

Please look at this image:

This picture is the theme for our first official Abstract Anthology.  Forget about the name.  Forget about any preconceptions about themes or subjects.  To participate in this anthology, all you have to do is write a story based on the image above.  The role this image plays in your story is up to you, but somehow the image must play into your story.  It could be the focal point of the tale or perhaps just a single scene, but your story must say something about this image.  The word limit for this anthology is 12,500 words and your story can be written in any genre.

Rules

Sign Up: Signing up to participate in this Anthology is not essential, nor is it binding, but it would be helpful if all members interested in participating would either email the anthology coordinator or sign up in the Anthology forum.

Submission Deadline: Sunday July 6th, 2008, at 11:59 PM Pacific Daylight Time (US). You are encouraged to send your submission ahead of the deadline.

Submission procedure: Email your entry as an attachment to rob@hub-writing.org, with the words “First Abstract Anthology Submission” in the subject line. For additional requirements, please refer to The Hub’s general Anthology Rules.

Genre: Any.

Word length:
- Maximum: 12,500 words
- Minimum: as you wish

Who may participate: This anthology is open to anyone, whether you are a Hub Author, a Hub Community member, an author published elsewhere, or a member of the general public.

Story titles: Authors are free to come up with their own story titles, but the title "The Shack" may not be used.

Copyright and License: The authors retain the copyright to their respective anthology submissions. Writers whose work is published in this anthology grant The Hub the right of first publication. This means that (1) the writing must not have been published anywhere else previously, and (2) if it is accepted for the anthology, you must wait until after the anthology is online to submit it to another site. For further information, please see The Hub’s Anthology Rules.

All submissions to this anthology are governed by, and must comply with the requirements of, The Hub’s general Story & Poetry Submission Guidelines and Anthology Rules. Please make sure to review those carefully.

Graphic Usage: The Hub Design Team create a special design style and theme for each anthology/writing project.  However, authors are free to submit suitable graphics for inclusion in their story if the graphics are necessary, appropriate and the appropriate permissions have been obtained.  Use of such graphics will be at the sole discretion of the manager of the anthology/writing project.  Hub Resident, Featured and Associated Authors may also design their own story icon for use on their site, but a story icon fitting the anthology theme will be designed on behalf of authors for use on the anthology page and within submissions.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email: rob@hub-writing.org.
